Cornea Mapping (Corneal Topography) — Hastinapuram
Sri Vision Eye Hospital & Laser Center — Nagarjuna Colony, Phase-4, Hastinapuram
Cornea Mapping (also called Corneal Topography) creates a detailed map of the cornea’s surface curvature and elevation. This non-invasive test helps detect early keratoconus, measure irregular astigmatism, guide LASIK/PRK planning, and improve contact lens fitting for better comfort and vision.
🔎 What Cornea Mapping Shows
- Curvature maps (steep and flat zones) and axial/sagittal views
- Elevation maps (anterior & posterior corneal surface)
- Corneal astigmatism and irregularity detection
- Keratoconus screening and progression assessment
- Data for refractive surgery planning and specialty lens fitting
👥 Who Should Get Cornea Mapping?
- Suspected or family history of keratoconus
- Patients considering LASIK/PRK or other corneal surgery
- Contact lens users with poor fit or fluctuating vision
- Those with unexplained vision loss despite normal refraction
- Patients under follow-up after corneal procedures
💡 Quick Note: The test is painless, quick (usually 2–5 minutes per eye) and non-contact. For best results, remove contact lenses prior to the test as advised by your clinician.
🩺 Preparation & What to Expect
- No drops are usually needed unless combined with other tests.
- Remove soft contact lenses at least 24 hours before; rigid lenses as instructed.
- Bring previous corneal/topography reports if available for comparison.
- Results include color maps and numeric data which your doctor will explain during consultation.
